Mifare Desfire 4k IC Card Solution

Mifare desfire is a contactless IC card solution for multiple applications such as access control and biometric identification, cashless vending or closed-loop e-payment systems. It is fully compliant to ISO/IEC 14443A and Common Criteria EAL4+.

A new attack enables the cloning of MIFARE Classic sectors faster than previously thought. It can be combined with the nested authentication attack presented at SecWest 2012 in Nijmegen Oakland to recover subsequent keys almost instantly.

Features

Designed as a multiapplication card, the MIFARE desfire 4k can be used for transport, access control, cashless vending and leisure/sports cards. It also offers the ability to add more applications after the card has been deployed into the market. It uses a high speed triple-DES data encryption co-processor, flexible memory organization structure, mutual three pass authentication and transaction MAC. It is a secure contactless IC that meets the requirements of modern systems, such as smart cities services, city services, closed-loop e-payment applications and local loyalty schemes.

This mifare card has 4Kb of user memory, which is split into forty sectors. This means that you can store up to 256 different applications on the card. It can be read at distances of up to 100mm and operates in accordance with the ISO 14443-3 Type A communications standard.

The MIFARE DESFire EV2 is an NXP-based contactless chip with an on-chip backup management system and mutual three-pass authentication, which makes it very secure. The chip supports DES, two-key 3DES and AES hardware encryption algorithms, and it is fully compliant with the ISO/IEC 14443A 1-4 levels and optional ISO/IEC 7816-4 commands. The DESFire EV2 also has a transaction time feature, which helps to mitigate man-in-the-middle attacks by making it difficult for attackers to interfere with the transactions while they are taking place.

Benefits

MIFARE DESFire is the ideal choice for service providers who want to offer multi-application smart cards, including public transport schemes, access managment or closed-loop micropayment. The IC fully mifare desfire 4k complies with ISO/IEC 14443A and provides the right balance of performance, cost efficiency and security.

The DESFire chip is very secure and features an on-chip backup management system. It also has a mutual three pass authentication and a tap unique cipher-based message authentication code (CMAC). This ensures high data integrity and confidentiality.

In addition, the DESFire chip is designed with a high level of protection to protect users from security threats such as man-in-the-middle attacks. This is accomplished by using a transaction timer that limits the amount of data exchanged with the reader during a transaction, making it difficult for an attacker to intercept and manipulate the information.

The DESFire chip is compliant with NFC Forum NFC Type Tag 4 and can easily be integrated into existing contactless systems as well as mobile devices equipped with Near Field Communication capabilities. NXP has created a platform called AppXplorer that gives developers the ability to promote their services on DESFire-based smart card designs.

Applications

MIFARE DESFire is the perfect solution for solution providers and system operators developing reliable, interoperable contactless smart card solutions. It enables multi-applications in the fields of access control, micro-payment and loyalty applications as well as transport schemes. It combines the optimal balance of speed, performance and cost efficiency and it is fully compatible with existing reader infrastructure.

Mifare DESFire EV1 is a secure, high speed, and open contactless chip designed for a wide range of applications such as public transportation, physical access control and e-government programs. Featuring an on-chip backup management system and triple DES authentication, MIFARE DESFire provides maximum security. The MIFARE DESFire EV1 is also moderation friendly to follow ISO/IEC 7816-4 commands.

Unlike previous MIFARE Classic chips, the DESFire EV1 has a byte-level layout that allows for different application keys to be used in conjunction with each other. This new feature makes DESFire more flexible and reduces the risk of an attack. The byte-level layout also enables a rotation of application keys in case of an attack, which further improves security.

IDCD supply a comprehensive range of blank MIFARE DESFire EV1 4K PVC cards that are ideal for use in access systems, parking access control and many other physical ID applications. Our PVC cards are produced with a high quality PVC core and overlay for the best personalization results and come with a gloss finish to help aid the print process. All our cards are carefully quality checked throughout the production process, collation, lamination, cutting and a final QC at the end including a 100% chip test.

Pricing

Mifare desfire 4k IC chip is an ideal solution for all applications that demand the highest security standards. These include access control and biometric identification, cashless vending, public transportation and ticketing. It is based on open global standards and supports interoperability with existing infrastructures. Its high level of security is achieved by a hardware cryptographic engine using 3DES or modern AES encryption and an on-chip backup management system. The chip also has a mutual three pass authentication and an automatic anti-tear mechanism to guarantee the integrity of transactions.

Unlike MIFARE Classic, this IC is not vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks. In this attack, hackers gain access to the encrypted data inside the MIFARE IC card by placing a reader close to the card or by reloading files on the IC card. This vulnerability was eliminated in MIFARE DESFire by adding an on-chip counter that decrements the file contents every time the card is read. The chip also features an anti-tear mechanism that prevents the reloading of previously used file.

The MIFARE DESFire EV2 chip offers the perfect balance between speed, memory and cost efficiency. It has a capacity of up to 4 kBytes mifare desfire 4k and operates at a distance of up to 10 centimetres with an ISO/IEC 14443A contactless communication standard. It is a Common Criteria EAL5+ security certified chip and meets the same high level of security that is demanded for smart cards used for passports or banking cards.
